Anthony “Tony” Torosian, 75, dies in his apartment in South Boston.

March 18, 2010

A South End native whose parents had escaped from Armenia during the war with Turkey, Torosian was a long-time court observer, who began sitting in on Federal and Suffolk County court cases after retiring from his job with a union representing service workers. He became known as the “thirteenth juror,” and was sought out by judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys for his keen insights into the conduct of trials and sympathies of juries.
